Rotterdam World Gateway (RWG) container terminal is set to become even more environmentally friendly by installing shore-based power across all its quayside. This upgrade, expected to start in 2026, will eliminate emissions, particulate matter, and noise from ships at berth, aligning RWG with future European regulations mandating shore-based power for large vessels by 2030. RWG’s initiative, self-financed and designed, emphasizes its commitment to a CO2-neutral operation. This collaboration with the Port of Rotterdam Authority, which includes sharing knowledge and data, marks a significant step towards sustainability in the maritime sector and contributes to a cleaner, quieter port environment.
