The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) recently announced that nearly 10,000 workers at CN and CPKC have overwhelmingly voted to reauthorize strike action if negotiations fail to produce settlements. Overall, the vote across both companies saw a 98.6% approval rate, with an impressive 89.5% turnout. Specifically, at CN, conductors, locomotive engineers, and yard workers supported strike reauthorization with a 98.4% approval and a 90.1% turnout. At CPKC, the vote among conductors, locomotive engineers, yard workers, and rail traffic controllers also showed strong support, with percentages ranging from 95.7% to 99.2%, and turnouts between 88.5% and 88.6%. These results underscore the union’s readiness to take action if necessary amid ongoing labour negotiations.
