Teck Resources has secured an Environmental Assessment Certificate from the B.C. government for its Highland Valley Copper Mine Life Extension project, marking a key milestone toward extending the life of Canada’s largest copper mine. The project is expected to generate approximately 2,900 jobs during construction and support 1,500 ongoing direct jobs, contributing $500 million annually to GDP. Final construction approval is anticipated in Q3 2025, with site preparation and permitting activities set to begin shortly. The extension would keep the mine operational into the mid-2040s, reinforcing Canada’s role in the North American critical minerals supply chain.
