The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has initiated a national survey as part of its safety issue investigation (M24A0348) into vessel fires and emergency response. Nearly 400 vessel fires have been reported in Canada over the past decade, with 10% resulting in total loss. The study aims to better understand fire risks, preparedness, and response capabilities across vessels, ports, and fire departments. The TSB is inviting marine stakeholders to help identify gaps and improve safety measures for vessel fire prevention and response.
