British Columbia has launched the BC Marine Energy and Decarbonization Hub, a joint initiative by COAST and the University of Victoria aimed at accelerating the development and commercialisation of marine renewable energy and decarbonization technologies. Building on decades of clean energy research from UVic’s IESVic, PRIMED, and ACET, the Hub will offer coastal and marine test sites for technology demonstration, focusing on renewable energy capture, energy integration, storage, and clean fuel distribution. Backed by federal, provincial, and private funding, the Hub will issue Innovation Challenges to engage industry and support Canada’s emissions reduction goals, while fostering economic growth and job creation across the marine sector.
