At the Port’s AGM on Monday, June 1, questions were asked regarding plans for the south shore of Burrard Inlet. Port stakeholders including CN and CP Rail as well as grain terminal operators and West Coast Reduction asked VFPA’s Robin Silvester about plans if Roberts Bank Terminal 2 is rejected by the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada. While still confident that T2 will be approved, Silvester noted that it was “important to preserve the opportunities to create new capacity for Canada’s international trade.” Peter Xotta, Vice President, Planning and Operations, added that, in the long run, “not every activity that has historically been on the scarce waterfront lands can remain there.” (From the Vancouver Sun, June 2, 2021)
