Quorum Corporation has reported that Western Canada’s grain export sector closed the 2025-26 crop year on a strong note, with year-to-date shipments from western port terminals reaching 45.1 million tonnes, up 8% from the previous year and 8% above the three-year average. Growth was led by the West Coast gateways, where shipments through Vancouver increased 8% to 31.9 million tonnes and Prince Rupert rose 10% to 5.4 million tonnes, reinforcing Canada’s position as a reliable supplier to global grain markets. The strong performance comes at a time when global grain shipments have fallen 8% year over year due to escalating attacks on shipping and port infrastructure in the Black Sea region, highlighting the growing importance of Western Canada’s efficient rail and port supply chain in supporting international food security.
