Woodfibre LNG has announced plans to apply for regulatory approval to add a second floatel to house up to 900 additional workers at its project site near Squamish, B.C. The move follows deployment of the MV Isabelle X, a floating accommodation already in place for project workers, which was approved by B.C.’s Environmental Assessment Office. The proposed second floatel would undergo similar multi-agency oversight and be moored near the project site, approximately seven kilometres from Squamish. Woodfibre LNG says the floatels help reduce pressure on local housing and services as it works toward completing its 2.1-million-tonne-per-year LNG export facility by 2027. If approved, the new vessel would also be contracted through Bridgemans Services Group.
