The cruise ship Utopia of the Seas was christened on July 15 and will officially debut on July 19 in Port Canaveral, Florida. Built by Chantiers de l’Atlantique in France, it is Royal Caribbean’s second LNG-powered vessel. The ship features environmentally friendly technologies such as shore power connection and waste heat recovery. It is equipped with six Wärtsilä 46TS-DF engines and aims to support Royal Caribbean’s decarbonization strategy, Destination Net Zero, targeting zero-carbon emissions by 2050. The ship follows the Icon of the Seas, the first LNG-fueled cruise ship delivered in late 2023, with the Star of the Seas set to join the fleet in December 2023 and a third ship expected in 2026.
