Canadian National Railway (CN) reported a modest rise in second-quarter profit to $1.17 billion, with diluted earnings per share increasing to $1.87. Revenue declined slightly to $4.27 billion. Due to ongoing trade and tariff uncertainty, CN withdrew its 2024–26 financial outlook and lowered its 2025 earnings growth forecast to mid to high single digits, down from 10–15%. The company also reduced its volume expectations for the rest of the year, citing customer shifts in supply chains and decreased cargo volumes. CN is tightening cost controls and may slightly reduce capital spending.
