Global Container Terminals (GCT) has formally submitted its Deltaport Berth 4 (DP4) expansion project in Delta, BC, to the new Major Projects Office for review. The company is urging Ottawa to designate DP4 as a Project of National Interest, aligning with Prime Minister Mark Carney’s infrastructure agenda. The privately funded $76-million project would add over 2 million TEUs of container capacity, create more than 10,000 jobs, and boost GDP by billions. GCT says the expansion will enhance Canada’s Pacific Gateway, diversify trade with Asia, and meet clean-growth goals through electrification, shore power, and habitat offsets.
