Since 2012, Garth has been the Director of the West Coast, CSL Americas. The CSL Group is the world’s largest owner/operator of self-unloading belt ship Panamax/Handy-size vessels, a division of the CSL Group of Montreal, Canada. In his role, he is responsible for all commercial and regulatory considerations for the West Coast of North America and Pacific Islands.
He has previously worked for the domestic division of Canada Steamship Lines as Director and in Marketing & Customer Service in the U.S. and Ontario, specifically in Toronto. Prior to joining CSL in 1998, he worked for 20 years with CN Rail assuming ever increasing responsibilities in operations and marketing. Garth was a participant in the 1995 IPO, ultimately serving as Market Manager, Intermodal, in North America including development of all domestic marketing programs, the corporate Intermodal business plan and double stack terminal design and implementation across the system through the early 1990’s.
Garth graduated from BCIT Marketing, Finance Option, in 1986 and achieved his MBA from the University of Western Ontario’s Richard Ivey School of Business. He later attended Cambridge University, in the UK, at the Academy of Transport, Chartering in 2006, and Anatomy of Shipping 2011.
He enjoys skiing, cycling, sailing and spending time on his Hunter 36 sailboat with his children as often as possible while enjoying the beautiful west coast of Canada.
