CMA CGM has partnered with Saigon Newport Corporation to develop a $600 million deep-water terminal in Haiphong, northern Vietnam. The Lach Huyen 7&8 terminals will handle up to 1.9 million TEUs and are expected to begin operations in 2028. This expansion strengthens CMA CGM’s long-standing presence in Vietnam, amid a surge in regional container volumes and shifting trade patterns due to U.S.-China tensions. Despite looming U.S. tariffs on Vietnamese exports, the country continues to benefit from increased manufacturing and trade flows.
